One day Amrita was going to school on her bicycle. She heard a small boy shouting for help, Help ! Help ! Help ! She looked around but could not see anyone. So she got down from her bike and walked towards the voice. She reached a well nearby. When she peeped in, she saw that a small boy had fallen into the well.

She shouted back to him. Don't worry I am here. I will save you. Don't worry. He became quiet. Amrita rushed to the house nearby and got some ropes. Some people came to help her.

It was an old well and people had stopped using it since a long time. It used to be covered with a wooden plank. But recently the wooden plank had somehow broken and half of it had fallen into the well. This small boy had been playing on the tree near the well as usual. He did not know that now there was an opening in the well. When he jumped down from the tree as usual by mistake he landed on the open part. And before he could hold anything he went right into the well.

Unfortunately he had playing alone on that day and no one else was there to help him. So when Amrita went to help him he felt relieved.

She quickly set to work. She lowered the rope in the well and asked some men to hold the other end. Then she shouted and asked the small boy to hold the end of the rope tightly. Two strong men started pulling the rope. Amrita told the boy to be brave and hold tight. After some struggle the boy could be pulled out of the well.

He thanked Amrita for her timely help .
